How much does a tractor repair in San Diego cost?

That depends on the what kind of tractor problem or failure is going on, and therefore, what kind of tractor repair will be needed.  It also depends on how long a tractor has been driven with the problem.

Some examples of tractor repair quotes- a blown hydraulic hose is around twenty bucks.  A thrown rod is tens of thousands.  Hopefully, the repair or maintenance that you need is much less than that, especially for San Diego county.

Most of our customers' tractor repairs will run between the two, running a couple hundred (average) to a few hundred dollars (big jobs on big machines!).  One thing is for sure: because we are a mobile tractor repair service, you don't have to pay to tow or load and haul your tractor to us.  Furthermore, repairing your John Deere, Kubota or Massey Ferguson is way cheaper than buying a new one, or the cost of lost productivity while the tractor is out of order.

Are tractors difficult to repair?

This is a great question!  We love repairing tractors because we're familiar with them, and love the puzzle of how to repair them and get them purring again!
It really does vary widely, depending on the model and the problem to repair.  Sometimes, when a customer has called, we give them a few simple repairs to try first (before they even spend any money with our mobile tractor repair service), because sometimes the fix is simple.   In my opinion, tractors are a little easier to repair than cars. This is because the parts are more straight-forward and accessible, and generally-speaking, have less electronics that tie in to every part. But again, this too varies by model of tractor. One of the harder repairs for many farm tractors is replacing or repairing a drive train component that lies between the engine and transmission. This could be the clutch, torque converter, rear seal, or flywheel. This is because many tractors are built without a full-length frame. So, the engine crankcase, clutch housing, etc. are all structural and bolted to each other. This means that to replace one of the components mentioned, for some models you actually have to split the tractor into two pieces. Yes, splitting the front half and the back half. You then must support both halves by blocks, stands or jacks, etc. One half- usually the front half- is rolled away from the other half in order to remove & replace the clutch or other component. Needless to say, this is a tricky procedure and must be done with diligent safety practices in mind.  This is Not Easy, and should be done with help and knowledge of what you're doing.  Failure to properly support one part of the tractor can result in it crashing down! This can lead to death or serious injury to the mechanic, or breaking of heavy castings and other costly tractor parts. But, if that doesn't scare you off, I've always found tractors to be generally simpler to work on than cars.  Plus, since tractors perform such cool and heavy-lifting services than cars do, in a way, it's far more satisfying to be able to repair a tractor!
